Letter to EU institutions and embassies - case of Hasan Abazi
Two weeks after the arrestment of Hasan Abazi at Konculj border crossing in Serbia, the appeal against the extension of detention is still not reviewed although Serbian jurisprudents dictate that should been done urgently, usually within three days. In addition, Hasan’s attorney has not been provided with access to the full documentation.

Call for Investigation into Whether or Not the Assault Against Limani Was Ethnically Motivated
February 26th, 2012 – Human rights organization are calling on the police and the office of the prosecutor to investigate whether or not the assault against Dželim Ljimani/ Xhelim Limani, which happened on February 23rd on the 43 bus line in Belgrade, was incited by prejudice based on racial and ethnic grounds. In that case, judicial authorities must take into consideration such motives as an aggravated circumstance.

European Court of Human Rights Rules in Favour of Zivota Milanovic
The Youth Initiative for Human Rights (YIHR) hereby welcomes the ruling rendered today by the European Court of Human Rights in the case of Zivota Milanovic vs. the Republic of Serbia, pursuant to the petition submitted by YIHR on October 2, 2007. According to the ruling, state bodies of the Republic of Serbia violated Article 3. and Article 14. of the European Convention on Human Rights.

A Step Towards New Values
“It is highly significant that the campaign against violence is being launched from the Belgrade City Assembly. Likewise, it is important for the story about the values of the likes of human rights and tolerance to reach Belgrade high schools. “I Prohibit!” Action Held
“We demand that state institutions do their best towards apprehending and duly punishing those accountable for the recent violence manifested in Belgrade and Genoa, as well as that fan, pro-fascist and extremist organizations which use violence to voice their views be finally outlawed. We hereby call on the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Youth and Sports, Ministry of Human and Minority Rights, Commissioner for Equality Protection and all other relevant institutions to conduct a comprehensive action aimed at promoting the values of tolerance, non-violence and respect for diversity”, Katarina Tadić, My Initiative activist, publicly read during the ‘street re-action’ “I Prohibit!”, implemented by the Youth Initiative for Human Rights (YIHR) and My Initiative activist movement in front of “Albanija” Palace building in Belgrade on October 18. The action held in scope of marking World Youth Day for Democracy gathered over 150 young people from across Serbia.

Press Freedom and Secular State Jeopardized
The Youth Initiative for Human Rights (YIHR) strongly condemns the attempt by head of the Islamic Community in Serbia, Mufti Muamer Zukorlić, to limit the constitutionally guaranteed freedom of the press in Serbia and actions taken by the Islamic Community Board which jeopardize secular character of the state and put religious communities and their teachings above the Constitution and the law.

Too Much Legislation, Little Implementation
“In the course of 2009. the authorities failed to put greater efforts into strengthening the rule of law in Serbia.
